Here we go....
I owe the birth of Memoirs in Black & White Photography to my doctor and my daughter.
In mid 2008, I was diagnosed with Depression. The day I arrived at my doctors office, not knowing my left from my right or my up from my down, I knew one thing for certain...I had lost myself! I went through spells of crying, not feeling worthy of self and balled up in the fetal position for hours or days at a time. It was a most horrible time in my life. Although, at the time I could not see the light at the end of the tunnel...my doctor did. She (my doctor) had some very wise words for me...words that would make me think long and hard!
Okay, I know what your thinking...please would she just stop and get to the photography already!!!
Thanks for your patience as I gave my brief but important history. I always had a love for photography but somewhere in the game of life...I forgot about it...that love for my relaxing hobby. Until...well until my daughter told me to freshen up, get off the sofa and lets go for a ride. I did not want to go for the ride...I was content feeling sorry for myself (hey I was becoming extremely good at it). However, I agreed and off we went. When we arrived at our location, we walked around and then the fun began.
I have not put my camera down since that day. Like I said, I owe thanks to my doctor who told me to get a hobby and all the other wise advise a good doctor will tell a patient. Oh and my daughter, who was wise beyond her years and took on the role as mom for that moment. Not only did she save my life...she gives me hope and support everyday.
I am proud of this work because it was born during one of my darkest hours. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Thanks for allowing me to share.

Hello and welcome to my blog page.
We are coming to the end of another summer and I have a multitude of ideas for the coming months ahead. Just to name a few, I will launch my greeting card line. Simply Beautiful Greeting Cards (under the Memoirs in Black & Photography umbrella) will be available September 1st. The 1st line is called "Faatimah Simone" and will contain 20 cards with 4 different card styles. The plan to date, we all know how plans can change, is to present a new line each quarter.
I thank you for your continued support.
